Have you ever been in that position where you wished you knew what to do, or wanted to do, but didn’t and you were stuck? That’s probably how I feel most of the time. I’m sixteen years old going onto my last year of high school and I have no idea what I want to do, but I do know that I want to be as successful as Donald Trump. That guy may be old and into women half his age, but he is so freaking successful.

My favorite subject in school is Geography and so I want to do something in that field. But then I want to own my own business. Then there’s hotel management which I really want to do and at one point in my life, I wanted to become a writer and/or an actress. So you can see what I mean about not knowing what to do.

I’d have to say that I’m motivated by Paris Hilton and her success. Now before you judge and say things like, “Oh no, yeap I was right. This girl is another blonde bimbo who doesn’t know dark pink from purple.” Well, to set the record straight, I’m a black/brown haired girl but yes, I don’t really know dark pink from purple. Seriously, it’s very similar if you really look at it and can easily confuse people. Anyways, if you look at Paris Hilton, she’s an heiress, she’s sung a few songs that have made it big, she’s acted in a few movies and she has her own business (I think). If she wrote a novel, not a biography or anything like that, I think she may actually become my role model. That is, of course, only business wise.

Don’t you just hate it when you start something and you get stuck somewhere along the line and so you don’t finish it? Well that’s kind of my story with all the stories I’ve written. I’ve written about four stories and so far, not so good. I got stuck on all of them so for now and a few weeks to follow, the only writing of mine you’ll be reading are my poems. Not many people like poetry, I know. I didn’t use to like it, heck I still don’t. I just write it. I wrote some last year (2009) and stopped for a while because my USB got infected and I lost most of my files. Luckily, my awesome-at-computer-stuff friend restored all of it. Then my USB got lost for about two months. Thank God my sister found it somewhere (can’t remember where though). With all that’s happened to my USB, I decided to be on the safe side and put all my poetry in a book too, just in case.

For my poetry, they must all rhyme. Call me childish but yes, I’m one of those people who love rhyming poetry. They’re cool. To me, it makes it more enjoyable. I mean, if a person has to or wants to read something as boring as poetry, it should at least be catchy with rhymes, right? So for that reason, and also the fact that if I do become famous, I don’t want to be known as another person who wrote poetry that speaks in riddles and doesn’t rhyme; being known as another person who wrote rhyming poetry is fine with me. Ok, for all these reasons I stated, I try my very best to rhyme every piece of poetry I write. Maybe when I get older, around my late twenties, and am still writing poetry, I’ll write stuff like Shakespeare, but for now, its childish rhyming poetry for me.

Ok, time to get this thing started. Right now you must be dying to see my poems, huh? I’m being sarcastic here, FYI. If you’re still reading then I’m sorry but I’m going to bore you with more chit chat before you read my poem. Or you can just skip right to the poem; whichever suits you more. So far, I’ve written about ten poems and counting. The poem given is one of my favorites. It’s about music and how it influences the soul... I think. Well, I wrote it because my classmate asked me to, for our talent quest. Her request was for something short and simple, yet meaningful; about soul and music of course, to open our performance. But instead I wrote a 28 line poem so you can guess that they didn’t use it. Instead, they used and I quote, “Aretha Franklin once said Soul is the ability to make other people feel what you’re feeling” unquote. I don’t care about that though. If it weren’t for her asking me to write this poem, I wouldn’t have made it (well duh!), but you know what I mean right? Hopefully you do because I don’t know how to rephrase what I just said. This poem is one of the first one’s I’ve written and I’m pretty darn happy about it. We won the talent quest (junior division) in case you’re wondering. Well anyways, hope you’ll enjoy the poem.

Soul and Music

A body lies limp

On the side of the road

Exhausted and tired

From carrying his load.

He feels something’s missing

It all feels so wrong

It’s no wonder his journey

Is taking so long.

He wants an answer

He wants a cause

To start his life

From this unbearable pause.

He taps the path

On which he lies

And starts a beat

That matches his cries.

He tosses and turns

As he echoes the beat

In his mind repeatedly

And stands on his feet.

The rhythm of the music

Flows richly in him

It gives him a reason

For wanting to dream.

The music he made

Has made him whole.

He is now a new person

With a happy free soul.

Well that’s it. That’s the poem I said I was so proud of. Can you imagine my class using this long ass poem to open our performance? Half the audience would fall asleep and the other would probably leave. OK, I may be exaggerating here but you know what I mean, right? That’s it from me for now.
